Obituary for Marjorie Catherine Miller Peterson

Marjorie M. Peterson
We are saddened to announce that Marjorie passed away from a sudden unknown event on 2/20/12.
Marjorie was born 5/28/1925 to Clarence W. Miller and Ruby Zoe Rozenberg Miller at the family
home in Alliance Nebraska.
Marjorie was the last of four siblings born to this Christian railroading family. She was a member of the
Alliance High School Band which took national honors under the direction of Val Hill. She learned her
saxophone skills by traveling by train to the Denver area to take music lessons from Happy Logan.
Marjorie also enjoyed playing the piano.
Marjorie met her future husband Carl F. Peterson in the band. They married 8/7/1947. Family members
said this marriage would never last due to her being a Dane and him a Swede. They proved all wrong
and celebrated 61 years of joyous time together before he passed away 11/1/08. Marjorie worked in the
PX at the Alliance Air Base which was a training ground for paratroopers during WW II. She also
worked as a clerk at the CB & Q Railroad. In the Broomfield area, Marjorie worked as an election
judge for many years and was an electorate at the state assembly.
Marjorie & Carl were youth counselors at the First Christian Church. She was a troop leader for the
Camp Fire Girls and received national recognition for her work with these girls for over 12 years.
Although she was not actively involved with Eastern Star, she was a member for over 50 years and
lived to the ideals they represented. Marjorie is survived by her son Larry W. Peterson of Aurora, Co,
daughter Catherine E. Peterson of Broomfield, CO, grandsons Timothy W. and Mark A. Peterson,
grand daughters Deanna E. Winter and Amy C. Gutierrez all from the Topeka KS area. She is also
survived by 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
She is preceded in death by Her husband Carl, her parents, sister Mildred Mahan of Kansas City, C.
Wayne Miller of Lakewood, CO, Dorothy E. Miller of Alliance.
Graveside Services are planned at the Alliance Cemetery at 2 PM on 2/25/12.
