Mary "Lorraine" Wetmore , 74, of Broomfield, passed away on November 15, 2011. She was born on April 10, 1937 in New York City from Maltese immigrants.
Lorraine grew up in the Bronx often helping to raise her younger brothers. She enjoyed bowling, dancing and cooking. She graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1955. She worked in a sweater factory and then a purse factory in New Jersey.
Lorraine met her husband Ray in 1956 while roller skating and much to her amusement, he literally fell at her feet. They were married in West Keansburg, New Jersey on April 27, 1957. They had four children over the next eight years. The family lived briefly in Poughkeepsie, New York from 1962 until 1965 while Ray worked for IBM. In 1965 the family moved to Broomfield when Ray transferred with IBM.
Most family vacations were spent camping in their travel trailer in parks around Utah, New Mexico, but mostly in Colorado. Lorraine and Ray celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007 with a large family gathering on an ocean cruise to Alaska. They regularly attended the Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church.
Lorraine was preceded in death by brothers John and Charles Vassallo. She is survuved by her husband, Raymond Wetmore, brother Vincent Vassallo, and Children Raymond Wetmore, Wayne Wetmore, Glen Wetmore and Lisa Adamson; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Lung Association.
