Thomas George Keck, left this life on March 12, 2012. He was born in 1937 in Blossburg, Pennsylvania to Jacob and Louise Keck . Tom was an exceptional athlete, who received an offer to play for the Detroit Tigers. He served his country instead, aboard the destroyer USS Gwin. Tom spent most of his life serving others as a teacher, coach and mentor. His more famous pupils included a former NBA star and U. S. senator. He devoted more than 28 years of his life to the Jefferson County public School system as a teacher and counselor, where he literally touched thousands of lives. Tom was an avid and accomplished fly fisherman. Whether on the South Platte below Spinney, or the Green River, his greatest joy went beyond catching fish: he wanted to help others become better fishermen. Making everyone he met better is Tom’s greatest legacy. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Tom met the love of his life Barbara, at the age of 16 and they were married for 52 years. He is also survived by his children, Todd, Melissa and Matt; daughters-in-law Lisa and Lorrie; son-in-law Steve Laurita; his grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, Jessica, Jake, Sara, Garrett and Grant; and Paul and Betty Davis, our other family. We all strive to leave this world a better place than we found it. Tom actually accomplished it. We love you, Poppy and you are forever in our hearts!
