Alan is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Adelaida “Lolly” Romens. They were married in Bronx, New York on July 26, 1975. AJ is lovingly remembered by 2 daughters: Kim Sievering and her husband Ray; Kathy Brocious and her husband Kris; and son, Brian Romens and his wife Heather. Alan is known as “Papa” to four wonderful grandchildren, Annaliese, Ethan, Rian, and Roman. Alan was born in Goodrich, Wisconsin on February 2, 1952. He joined the United States Air Force straight from high school where he worked in Securities Services, retiring as a Master Sergeant in August 2002. While on active duty, Alan toured Turkey and Puerto Rico where he met the love of his life. After eight years of active duty, AJ continued his service as a Reservist for the Air Force and was activated several times, including Desert Storm and 9/11. AJ also spent time working for the Colorado Springs City Marshal’s Department and the Sheriff’s Department. As a Colorado Springs Police Officer, he first served as a mounted officer and later a motorcycle and traffic patrol officer. During his 23 years with the CSPD, Alan received a plethora of Commander Commendations, Certificates of Appreciation and written citizen accolades. His devotion to his community left a lasting impression among coworkers and friends in Colorado Springs. AJ loved making people laugh with his never-wavering sense of humor; no matter the situation, he could make you smile. He thrived in any social gathering; often the life of the party and bringing light into any room he entered. Alan loved his family and took advantage of any time he could to spend with them. Motorcycle rides on his Harley was a favorite pastime, along with playing dominoes and cribbage. Alan had a passion for horses, boarding and caring for several at his property in Peyton, Colorado. An easy path to AJ’s heart was through any sweet treat or baked good. Alan’s beaming smile and infectious laugh will be remembered by those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, the American Brain Tumor Association, and/or Caring Bridge. All have been indispensable to the family during this time.
