Albert (Abe) Amado Maestas Colorado Springs, Colorado Obituary

Albert (Abe) Amado Maestas

With his loving family by his side, Albert A. Maestas (Abe), went to heaven to join the family of Christ on June 16th, 2020 at the age of 78. Abe was born on November 28th, 1941 in Capulin, Colorado, to Alfonso A. Maestas Sr. and Aurelia O. Maestas. Abe spent most of his childhood in Alamosa, Colorado and attended Alamosa High School where he was the state wrestling champion, which was a great talent of his that he passed along. From there, Abe enlisted and served in the Army National Guard for 6 years, and then for the next 30 years he worked hard as a feeder driver at United Parcel Service (UPS), where he adopted the CB handle "the banty rooster," until he eventually retired. He spent his retirement in the two places he loved the most, Colorado Springs, Colorado and in Yuma, Arizona where he and his loving wife enjoyed the company of their family and friends together. Abe told many stories about the dice games he, his wife, family, and friends would play while in Yuma. Abe was an avid Broncos and Rockies fan, and never missed a game for either sport. Abe was well known for his sarcasm, his witty sense of humor, and how deeply he loved all his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie Louise Maestas, daughters; Annette (Manuel) Garcia, Lisa (Carlos) Spencer, and son Edward Maestas, grandchildren; Kevin (Amy) Garcia, Markus Garcia, Brianna (Carlos) Abeyta, Stephanie (Solomon) Montoya, Angela (Christopher) Whittaker, Amaya Spencer, Jasmine Spencer, Hope Spencer, Brandon Maestas, Skye Maestas, and Starr Maestas, great-grandchildren; Arianna Garcia, Nathaniel Montoya, Trevor Montoya, Donovan Montoya, Alyceah Montoya, Brandon Whittaker, Teya Duran, Dominic Duran, Caydn Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, and three great grandchildren on the way, siblings; Lovada Romero of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Richard J. (Lenora) Maestas of Commerce City, Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Abe was preceded in death by his parents; Alfonso A. Maestas Sr. and Aurelia O. Maestas, sister; Pricilla Maestas, brother; Alfonso Jr., and his wife Jean Maestas, brother-in-law; Johnny Romero, two grandchildren; Joshua Garcia and Samantha Maestas, and great-granddaughter; Hazzel Roybal.
