Bart Boehlert Obituary

Bart Boehlert Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2017, in Colorado Springs, CO. Born on August 3, 1932, in Utica, N.Y. , to Bart and Dorothy Boehlert, Bart Jr. graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School in Utica, N.Y., in 1948, and then from Utica College. In 1952, he met Donna Mumford working at Wicks & Greenman men’s clothier. They married four years later, and Bart began working at General Electric, where he enjoyed a long, successful career as an operations manager in Utica, Fort Wayne, IN., and Bridgeport, CT. Later in his career, he worked as a manufacturing consultant for Roth & Strong, based in Boston, MA. Bart and Donna had four children in New Hartford, N.Y., before moving their family for three years to Indiana, and then to the Connecticut shoreline where they lived for many years in the town of Guilford. Donna passed away there in 2012. An avid, lifelong athlete, Bart filled his youth playing baseball, basketball and pick-up football games all around the city of Utica – when he wasn’t marching in the local drum and bugle corps. Bart was a star player in high school. Later he became an expert golfer and shot his age when he was 74 years old. He passed his love of athletics on to his children, and was their biggest booster on the sidelines and in the stands, attending countless track and cross country meets, basketball games and baseball games. He also spent many seasons coaching youth sports. Bart cherished time with his extended family in upstate New York – along with the Utica Club beers and half-moon cookies that always came with the trips. A generous, world-class handyman, Bart was perhaps happiest staring down a job with his trusted tool kit by his side. Bart is predeceased by his three beloved siblings, Betty Boehlert, Bob Boehlert and Eleanor Noonan. He is survived by his four children, Bart (Ted Dawson), Thomas (Karen Falzarano), Cynthia (Barb Kristofek) and Eric (Tracy Breslin), and four grandchildren, Brian, Aaron, Jane and Ben Boehlert. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Hospice Foundation online or send to the National Hospice Foundation, 1731 King Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314
