Celeste Virginia Gleffe May 1928 - February 2012 Celeste Virginia Gleffe, age 83, passed away in February 2012 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in May 1928 in Houston, Pennsylvania, to the late Matthew and Maude Strong. Celeste had one sister, Lillian Stone of Beaver, Pennsylvania, and two brothers, George and Bill, both deceased. A 1946 graduate of Chartiers Township High School in Houston, Pennsylvania, Celeste married James W. Savelsberg in 1950. They had five children: Pam (Paul) Benold, Cindy (Wayne) King, Jim (Debbie) Savelsberg, Susie (Neil) Wittering, and Dave Savelsberg. Celeste and Jim enjoyed spending time with their family, playing cards with friends, and hunting, fishing and camping in the Pennsylvania forests. In 1960, the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where they learned to enjoy outdoor activities in the Arizona desert and the forests of Northern Arizona. Celeste enjoyed a long career, holding positions at Wright Manufacturing, Phoenix Steel, J.R. Porter Construction Co. and Instructional Training Company. In 1976, Celeste married Ralph E. Gleffe III, in Phoenix. Ralph participated in SCCA auto racing for a number of years, as did Celeste’s son, Jim, and Celeste enjoyed watching them compete throughout the Southwest. In 2008, Celeste and Ralph relocated to Colorado, where they purchased and refurbished a home in Woodland Park, a mountain town west of Colorado Springs. Celeste loved watching the wildlife around their home in the woods, enjoyed cooking shows and trying new recipes to serve to family and friends, and became an avid reader. Celeste Gleffe is survived by her loving husband, Ralph, her sister, Lillian, her five children, 7 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren, and other family members too numerous to mention.
