Clara Allen

Clara I. Allen, 97, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 5:00-7:00p.m at Blunt Mortuary. Graveside will be Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Crystal Valley Cemetery, Manitou Springs, Colorado. Clara Irene Lewis was born in Gormania, Maryland on September 19, 1917, the daughter of Isaac and Clara (Smith) Lewis. Clara married George Youngblood in 1936 and they had one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Youngblood Wood. Mr. Youngblood died in 1937. In 1938, Clara married Rodney Allen. They had two sons Rodney Allen Jr and Ronald Allen. Mr. Allen Sr. died in 1961. Clare was a homemaker and, following Allen's death, she moved with her sons to Manitou Springs, Colorado. In the later 1960's, Clara met Peter J. Bardy and they became companions until his death in 2012. Clara was an accomplished painter and enjoyed nature, animals and traveling. Clara's family gave her much joy and she cherished every family gathering and special occasion. Clara is survived by her son, Ronald Allen, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, 2 husbands, daughter Mary, and son Rodney Jr. Arrangements are in the care of Blunt Mortuary in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
