Colonel Susan Pardo Obituary

Colonel Susan Twining Pardo, age 59, passed away on July 1, 2011 near her home in Colorado Springs. Susan was born in Calgary, Canada, on December 10, 1951, daughter of the late Lawrence and Jean Galloway Twining. Colonel Pardo retired from the US Air Force on June 30, 2008 after serving almost 28 years, including a voluntary tour in Iraq in 2007, an assignment as Squadron Commander in Guam, and as an IG Chief for the Inspector General. She was a highly decorated officer and consummate overachiever who inspired many of her peers. She loved reading, photography, swimming and sunbathing. Susan was active in the Cheyenne Newcomers Club, where she served as the treasurer. She was also a proud Texas A&M Aggie, had a masters from University of West Florida, and was pursuing a degree in graphic design at Colorado Technical University at the time of her passing. She was Presbyterian by faith. Susan is survived by her husband, Woor Pardo, her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sally Caraway of Austin, Texas, her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Daniel Mathena of Houston, Texas, her son, Eric Pardo of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, two grandsons, Sid and Oscar Caraway, and her mother-in-law, Bettina Asdourian. Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ruth Twining, and her brother, Lawrence Twining II. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910, with full military honors by the High Frontier Honor Guard from Peterson Air Force Base.
