Dallas Bare

Dallas Monroe Bare, age 92, passed away on December 4, 2010. He was born November 9, 1918 in Colorado Springs, a son of Dallas Monroe Bare Sr. and Helen Etta Young Bare. His grandparents were George and Emma Young, who moved to Colorado Springs in 1885. His grandfather was a building contractor and built a number of public buildings including Lowell School. He attended local schools and graduated from Colorado Springs High School. He was a veteran of World War II and after his discharge attended and graduated from Julliard School of Music, living and singing in New York City. His proficiency and interest led him to sing in the Metropolitan Opera Chorus, various church choirs, and to teach vocal students in Colorado Springs. In the early 1960' s he returned to Colorado Springs to care for his aging parents. He was predeceased by his mother, father and sister, Dorothy H. Schlegel. He is survived by a nephew, Harold Schlegel of Evanston, Illinois and several cousins. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado
