David Woodside

David Robert Woodside, 86, died in his Colorado Springs home on July 31, 2014. David was born in Philadelphia on January 28, 1928 to Jane (nee McKnight) and Samuel Fraser Woodside. He was raised in Camden, New Jersey until joining the Navy in 1945. David also served in the Army Air Corp. and Air Force (consecutive) before retiring as S/M Sgt. from NORAD where he served his last assignment as a meteorologist with the 4th Weather Group. David was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William, Easton and Samuel; son Michael and grandson Mark MacKay. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances; daughter Barbara; 5 grandchildren, David MacKay, Jason MacKay, Sarah (nee Woodside) Clapham (Josh), Luke Woodside (Anna) all of Colorado Springs; Heather MacKay (widow of Mark) of Denver; Genee (nee Woodside) White (Scott) of Austin, Texas; 9 great grandchildren, David Baker (Amy), Geoffrey Ferreira and Brody ('Mr. B') Clapham of Colorado Springs; Jennifer, Robert and William MacKay of Denver; Jael, Fayth and Jordyn White of Austin, Texas. Also, many extended family members on both coasts, Texas and Louisiana. A private family graveside service is planned. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to his favorite charities, St. Jude's and Silver Key. Arrangements are in the care of Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
