Donald Lenker

Donald E. Lenker "Don", 85, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2014. He was born in Wheeler County, Nebraska, the son of Clement T. and Mildred Lenker. He graduated from Ericson Rural High School in 1946. Don married Marjorie Briggs in February 1949 and they were blessed with four children. Don served as a State Trooper and then was elected mayor of Ogallala, Nebraska in 1962. He was a master mason and a member of the Ogallala Masonic Lodge #159 since 1961. In 1963, he and his family moved to La Habra, California where Don worked as a security & garage foreman at Kirkhill Rubber Company and retired after 14 years. As of 1978, the family moved to Colorado Springs where Don continued his savvy business skills by opening his own company and investing in commercial real estate. Don was meticulously organized and financially wise. He was a generous man who loved his wife and family and provided them with security and stability. He loved airplanes and flew as a pilot in his younger years. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Briggs-Lenker; his daughters, Gayla VandenHoff, Cindy Pepin, Chris Fall-Lenker and his son, Kevin Lenker; respectively eight grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his eldest son, Neil and grandson, Michael. There will be a graveside Masonic memorial service on Tuesday, July 8th at 2:00pm at Evergreen Cemetery with a Celebration of Life at the Lenker home following the service. Food will be provided. A special thank you to our Optum Hospice team for the comfort and care provided. Arrangements are under the care of Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, CO.
