Earl Tellin

IN REMEMBRANCE EARL D. TELLIN DEC. 26, 1915 – NOV. 29, 2012 Earl, son of Frank and Marie Tellin was born in Solon, Iowa. His parents were merchants and farmers. Preceding him in death his wife of 66 years Jimmie M. Tellin an older brother, Arthur, an older sister Helen and twin sister Esther. Tellin family migrated to a ranch in Iliff, Co. in 1923, then to Colorado Springs, Co., then to Castle Rock, Co. were most of his growing up years were spent. He graduated from Douglas County High School, in 1933. He furthered his education at Yale extension school in Connecticut. He married Jimmie Marjorie Whitlock in 1944. They had a son Earl Dana Tellin (wife Karen Ann), daughter, Ruth Marie Beaver (husband Dwight C.). Earl had another daughter from a former marriage, Gail Ann Kelly. In addition, he is survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Earl was employed by Remington Arms Company from 1941 until 1976 as Chief Supervisor of Product Development and Ballistics. In the 1940’s he was instrumental in the development of the shop smith lathe and the electric primer. His career resulted in residences in Colorado, Connecticut, and Missouri. He and his son built their retirement homes in Poncha Springs, Co. and Lake Havasu City, Az. Earl was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge # 76 in Independence, Mo. He was also affiliated with the United Methodist church in Missouri. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to, Odyssey Hospice, 5526 N. Academy Blvd. Suite 108 Colorado Springs, Co. 80918. Graveside Services, will be 1:00 PM Friday December 7, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
