Elizabeth Lamphere

Elizabeth Harriet Lamphere Lamphere, Elizabeth “Betsey”, 75, of Manitou Springs Colorado passed away on December 23, 2011. A memorial service will be held Thursday January 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904. Betsey was born February 14, 1936 in Grand Rapids Michigan, to Abel and Alice Van Til. She was the middle of three children. Betsey graduated from La Junta High School, in La Junta Colorado in May of 1954. With several academic collage scholarships in hand, Betsey made the decision to start working at J.C. Penny’s in La Junta, after her High School years. She then moved in 1955 to Colorado Springs while continuing to work for Penny’s, where she met Albin Dean Lamphere. Al and Betsey were married April 17, 1960, and settled down in Manitou Springs to start their family. Betsey and Al continue to live in Manitou and Colorado Springs until 1975. Betsey and Al relocated to the Denver area in late summer of 1975, where Betsey went to work at L.L. Johnson, Toro Distributor of Denver. While she worked, she always made her family her number one priority, as she and Al raised their four children. Betsey retired from L.L. Johnson’s in August of 2000, after 25 years of service, in the Accounts Receivable department. Betsey and Al then relocated to Manitou Springs to retire and enjoy their time together. Betsey is survived by her husband of 52 years, Al, her four children, Susan of Colorado Springs Colorado, Dave of Longmont Colorado, Beth of Arvada Colorado and last but certainly not least Rich of Boulder, Colorado, her sister, Linda Van Til, four great in-laws Ann, Randy, Kirsten, and Phil, as well as 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be made to Albin Lamphere and will be used at the family’s discretion.
