Eloy John Jaramillo, age 85, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs , passed away on October 22, 2010 in Colorado Springs . Eloy was born on September 25, 1925 in Las Animas County, Colorado a son of the late, Dan and Afemio Romero Jaramillo. Eloy retired as a Sergeant First Class from the Army after serving over 23 years and serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He served in Vietnam for 6 campaigns including the Tet Offensive and received the Bronze Star Medal for his service in Vietnam. He had also worked as a coal miner in Trinidad for many years. Eloy was a very kind, open minded, generous and very humble. H e was not a materialistic man at all. He loved animals especially his beloved dog Max. He enjoyed the outdoors and going fishing. He was only concerned about the happiness of others. Eloy volunteered at St. Josephs Church for years and was a great leader and always had the right advice. He is survived by his wife, Son Sun Jaramillo; 2 daughters, Shirley Stanley and Michelle Jaramillo; a son, Daniel Jaramillo; a sister, Lillian Muniz; grandchildren, Daniel Maldonado, Brandy Maldonado and Kristi Stanley; and great-grandchildren, Danielle, Sierra, Martin and Sienna. Catholic Burial Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at St. Dominic Catholic Church 5354 Highway 85/87 Colorado Springs, Colorado 80911. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Fountain, Colorado with full military honors by Ft. Carson Honor Guard. A reception will be held at the church following the interment.
