Geraldine A. Case Spellman February 1, 1928 to December 4, 2012 Geraldine A. Case Spellman (“Gerie”) passed away on December 4, age 84, following a short illness. She was born in Campbell, MO on February 1, 1928 to the late Arthur and Nellie Case, one of five surviving children. At age 9, the family moved to Colorado Springs and settled in the Woodmen Valley area. Gerie was an alum of the country Woodmen School of two rooms until the family moved to town. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School (now Palmer) in 1946. Her first job was at Mountain Bell. Later she moved to Ent Air Force Base as a budget analyst for Strategic Air Command and retired at this civil service position. After she retired in 1969, she worked in real estate with her brothers, Art, Randy and James L. Case at J.L. Case Realty as well as marketing for Casco Homes. Gerie was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association. She was very proud of the fact that she participated in the groundwork to bring UCCS to Colorado Springs and gathered 50,000 signatures to put the item on a ballot. Gerie taught the first death and dying courses at First Christian Church by teaching independence, business matters, and stronger faith. Gerie was preceded in death by her husbands, Gene McNeilley and Floyd Spellman, her sister, Dorthas Goodnight and her brother, James L. Case, Colo. Sprgs. She is survived by her brothers: Art Case and Randy Case, her sisters-in-law: Connie Case and Lena Gail Case, their children, nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and many loyal friends. Services will be at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain at Union 10:00 a.m. Dec. 11. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, 26th and Howbert. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Pikes Peak Hospice, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill St., Colo. Sprgs. CO 80906
