Gladys Wicks Colorado Springs, Colorado Obituary

Gladys Wicks

Our precious Gladys Leona Wicks Passed through the Heavenly gates on October 19, 2016, and will be greatly missed until we see her again. Gladys was born on February 18, 1915, to Anton Levi Wicks and Johanna “Hannah” Natvik in Morris, Illinois. She was one of ten children and was the last surviving sibling, passing at the age of 101 years old. Gladys was devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother and was untiring in giving her time and love to her family. She was endlessly patient while playing Hangman, the Dot Game and I Spy with My Little Eye with her grandchildren. She loved listening to her great-great granddaughter, Calle, play her violin. She worked hard her entire life and was a strong and independent woman. She enjoyed playing cards, working crossword puzzles, singing old favorites like “My Blue Heaven,” and was a lover of daily long walks, snacking with her coffee & cookies, and smoking her unfiltered Camel cigarettes. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: daughter Barbara Binion (Bradish) and son-in-law, Roger; granddaughters Toni Binion (Bryan Ross) and Joanna Binion; great- granddaughters Emily Binion and Elizabeth Binion; great-great granddaughter Calleen Binion; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Hannah Wicks, and siblings Milfred Wicks, Roy Wicks; Ruth Hill (Wicks); Rozella Losh (Wicks); Marvin Wicks; Archie Wicks; Orvin Wicks; Lowell Wicks and Donald Wicks. Many heartfelt thanks to the compassionate and supportive staff of Sunny Vista Living Center, including Dr. Donald Spradlin. The viewing will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 24, 2016, with services to follow at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 East Fountain Blvd.
