Henry Cleveland Hack, Jr. August 10, 1916 to January 26, 2011 Henry Cleveland Hack, Jr., age 94, passed away on January 26, 2011, in Colorado Springs. He was born on August 10, 1916, in Parsons, Kansas to Ina (Rountree) and Henry Hack, Sr. Henry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret; daughter, Mary Ann Wanner; son, Bill (Debbie) Hack; sister, Marybelle DeWitt; 3 grandchildren, Kera Wanner, Jenna Wanner and Dana (Shawn) Rutzen; 2 great grandchildren, Ava Hazel and Audrey Rutzen; 2 nephews, Charles Spray and Robin Hack; and many extended family and friends too numerous to mention. He is preceded in death by his parents Ina and Henry, Sr. and 12 brothers and sisters. Henry was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He loved being with his family, fishing, spending time in his yard feeding all the wild birds and squirrels and befriending all stray animals that were lucky enough to cross his path. In his early years he was a prize fighter and worked in the mines in the Cripple Creek District. During WWII he served in the United States Navy. He and his wife owned the Cripple Creek Market and operated their grocery store together for over 26 years. He was on the Cripple Creek City Council for 28 consecutive years and then became Mayor of Cripple Creek for 3 terms. He was loved and honored by all and will truly be missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 31, 2011, at 11:00 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Cripple Creek, Colorado, with interment immediately following at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Cripple Creek, Colorado. A reception will follow from 1:00 to 4:00 at the H. C. (June) Hack Park & Recreation Community Center.
