Jean Threasa Schultz, longtime Manitou Springs resident, passed away on February 20, 2014 in Colorado Springs. She was born on February 13, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Helen and Paul Ballog. Jean married Joseph Schultz on May 9, 1953. Jean and Joe were former owners of the Elko Motel in Manitou Springs. Jean enjoyed fishing, knitting, cooking, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.Mrs. Jean is survived by three children - MaryJo (Gary) Smith of Manitou Springs, Colorado, Mark (Kara) Schultz of Midlothian, Virginia, Scott Schultz of Manitou Springs, Colorado, four grandchildren - Stacy (Vernon) Thomson, Bethany Schultz, Joseph Schultz, Tanya Schultz and a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Thomson. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph V. Schultz, two sisters and a brother, Eleanor Rader, Clara Schaming and James Ballog.A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
