Josh was born 7 ½ weeks early while we were visiting family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He just couldn’t wait to come join his huge family. He was preceded in death by his Grandpa Montano, Gramma Nancy Teskey, and Uncle Dave Roudebush. He is survived by his parents Robyn & Jerome Montano, his Grampa Harland Teskey, Grandma Margie Lujan, Aunt Jill Roudebush, Aunt Veronica Moya, Uncle Luciano Moya, Uncle Kelly Goswick, and many other Uncles, Aunts and cousins. The most important thing to Josh in his life was his family and he had plenty of that to go around. During his short time on this earth he certainly made an impact on a lot of people and enriched so many lives. He was the guy that when you met him, you were instantly drawn to him because of his huge heart and infectious personality. Josh was a sports enthusiast. He loved his Broncos and Rockies, although Dad tried to turn him into a Cowboys fan. He was a born baseball player, when he came into this world his Gramma Teskey said “Oh he can play the piano with those long fingers” to which both Jerome and I said, “No, he’ll play baseball.” He loved playing the game of baseball ever since he was old enough to hold and swing a bat, he looked up to his Dad who was a role model and coach in the sport. I of course tried to help him when he was little by pitching to him, only I hit him more than I got the ball across the plate. Dad was much better at it than me. I was better as a cheerleader. He was awarded a lot of MVP (most valuable player) awards throughout his baseball career. The team always picked one player at the end of the season that was outstanding in their contribution to the game not only with athletic ability, but with compassion for the game and his fellow teammates. Just one of the many things that made us very proud as parents. He was of course very humble and never made a big deal about it. Josh made us proud in so many ways throughout his life but one of the things that stands out to me the most is he was a rescuer and a friend you could always count on. If you were ever hurting, if you ever just needed a friend to talk to or a shoulder to cry on, if you wanted to go play frisbee golf or long board, Josh was that guy. He was always there no matter what. We were fortunate to travel with Josh during his baseball career and for family vacations. We visited a lot of cities from the east coast to the west coast and north to south. We went to the beach, even the beach in Hawaii which he loved. We visited Disney World with Gramma, Grampa and Aunt Jill and Uncle Dave when he was just a little guy, but he loved it. At Sea World he decided he wanted to be a whale trainer after visiting the show. He went fishing in the ocean in Florida with Grampa, Uncle Kelly, Uncle Dave and Dad. I remember they caught some really great Grouper and Uncle Dave cooked it to perfection. One of the last fishing trips to Florida a couple years ago he caught a Shark, something he was very proud of. We loved our son unconditionally and will always keep him close in our hearts. Please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences with Josh here and with everyone whose life he touched. A celebration of Josh’s life will be held in Spring 2020.
