Lemon Bell

Lemon Bell, age 80, a longtime Colorado Springs resident, passed away peacefully May 5, 2011 after a long illness surrounded by his family. Lemon was born September 21, 1930 in Center, Texas, a son of the late Norman and Addie Jones Bell. Lemon joined the United States Army in 1948 during which time he served in the Korean War and Vietnam. He retired from his service in 1968 as a Master Sergeant, (E-8), as a general supply specialist. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. After retiring, he continued his education by taking various courses at Pikes Peak Community College. Lemon went on to become the owner of several successful local businesses including Bell’s Nightingale Night Club for 20 years, LB Social Club for 20 years and Guardian Transmission in Pueblo. He also worked as a housing inspector and restaurant manager. He loved playing cards, bowling and reading. He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Dazzie; a son, Lamont (Jo) Bell of Colorado Springs and a daughter, Frieda Bell of San Francisco, California; one sister, Daisy Montgomery of Houston, Texas ; four brothers, Norman (Olia) Bell, of Houston, Texas, J.C. Bell, of Houston, Texas, William Bell of Anton, Texas and Elroy Bell of Cleveland, Texas; three grandchildren, Tanya (Thomas) Dantzler and Lamont Bell, Jr. both of Colorado Springs and Deshawn (Susan) Bell of Honolulu, Hawaii; nine great grandchildren, Thomas Dantzler, III, Tyce Dantzler, True Dantzler, Jayson Bell, Brandon Bell, Carson Bell, Chivon Bell, Chanice Bell and Cherina Bell and one great-great grandchild, Cameron Schultz. The family would like extend their gratitude to the caring staff of Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until 11:00AM on Monday, May 9, 2011at Evergreen Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Funeral Home Chapel, 1830 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs. Inurnment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
