Leta Benefiel Obituary

Leta Mardell (Bigelow-Leonard) Benefiel, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 19, 2017 at Memorial Central Hospital UC Health. She is preceded in death by parents Clyde Marton Bigelow and Christine Mardell (Cook), sisters Mildred, Doris and Ruth, and brother Merle, and son Owen Boyd Leonard. She is survived by her sister Opal Foncannon, sons Olen Floyd Leonard, Clark Shelby Leonard, and Marton Elwin Leonard, daughter Mardell Elaine Leonard, step-son Robert Benefiel, and step-daughters Louann Sue Hatton and Wendy Kay Suits. Leta graduated from Falcon High School and University of Colorado-Cragmor and worked as a nurse in Woodland Park and Memorial Hospital before retiring as a critical care nurse. Leta volunteered as a pastor at the Desert Regional Medical Center and was most recently a member of Sunnyside Christian Church, 2025 N. Murray Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her visitation will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 4:00-6:00pm. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 10:00am at Evergreen Funeral Home.
