Lois Ralston Obituary

Lois Lenore Ralston, age 97 years, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 10, 2015 in Colorado Springs after a brief illness. The daughter of Roy Jones and Vera Ann Alice Ralston Jones, both deceased, she was born in Torrington, Wyoming and moved to Southern California in 1936. During her time in Southern California, Lois lived in several communities: Whittier, La Mirada, Santa Ana, Banning, and Hemet. Lois moved to Colorado in 2000, living first in Fountain and then moving to Colorado Springs in 2011. While in Fountain, she lived independently and became involved with activities at the Fountain Valley Senior Center and visited with the new friends she met along the way. Although Lois worked at a variety of jobs in California, she was most sentimental about her time working in the Coca Cola bottling plant in Santa Ana in the 1940s. She also loved to talk about working at the Santa Ana Air Base during World War II, supporting the war effort in the way she could. Lois was very active with the school and extracurricular activities of her children, supporting her two sons, Stephen and Robert, and her daughter Sharon, in their athletic activities and her daughter LeNore's interest in theatre arts and music. Lois was active first at St. Mathias Episcopal church in Whittier and later at Temple Beth Ohr in La Mirada. She was an avid bowler and reader, an accomplished Polynesian dancer, and loved to walk for miles. Lois was well-traveled, visiting much of the United States and Europe. She was also an accomplished seamstress and spent many hours in various needlework activities, such as creating and selling beautiful crocheted designer clothes for the iconic Barbie Doll. Lois is survived by her children Stephen Leroy Ralston, 78; Robert Wayne Ralston, 75; and LeNore Anne Ralston, 58. Her husband, Glenn Lawrence Ralston preceded her in death in 1976, as well as her daughter Elizabeth Sharon Mae Ralston, who passed in 1995. Lois was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held later this year at Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs. Details regarding the gathering will be published in advance. Lois requested that her ashes be scattered over the Pacific Ocean between the coast of California and Catalina Island, which will be done this summer according to her wishes. Please wish her well as she sails off on her next adventure! Arrangements are in the care of Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. .
