Marian Frances Lee Wiggins, age 70, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2011 in her home. She was born on June 23, 1940 to parents Willard and Gladys Lee in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Marian was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved animals. She loved to garden, read, cook, ski and swim but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan and early in life, she joined the Army where she met her husband, the late Lt. Col. Marvin Earl Artis. Their union was blessed with two children, Dionne Lynn and Kevin Earl Artis. The family has resided in Colorado since 1978. Marian graduated from Beth-El College of Nursing and became a registered nurse. During her nursing career she worked at Penrose Main and St. Francis Hospice. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Gladys Lee; two husbands, Marvin E. Artis and Lindsey Wiggins. She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, Dionne Artis of Colorado Springs; son, Kevin E. Artis of New York City, one brother, James Lee, of Detroit, Michigan; four grandchildren, Michael, Blair, Jonathan and Anthony Artis all of Colorado Springs along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
