Opal Griffin Obituary

Opal May (Nelson) Griffin, 98, passed away on February 18, 2011. She was a longtime resident of Colorado Springs. Opal worked for many years at the Cooper-Lidtke drugstore in Old Colorado City. She was a light-hearted soul who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will long be remembered for her laugh, her love of picnics, her delicious homemade cinnamon rolls and divinity, and her beautiful sweet pea garden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Griffin; her parents, William B. and Maggie R. (Evans) Nelson; her brothers Robert, Oakley, William, and George Nelson; and her sisters Veva Stahlman, Vera McCarty, and Dorothy Hill. She is survived by a sister, Erma P. Conrad, along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. in Colorado Springs.
