Roberta Larson Collins, 96, died peacefully in her home and now sings praises in her Heavenly Home. She was born to Robert and Frieda Nyberg in 1917, in Salem, IA and grew up on a farm.
She was married to Henry Larson from 1938 until he died in 1979. In 1982 she married Eldred "Dick" Collins, who passed away in 2010. Her 4 children were reared in Morton, IL, where she resided for 43 years.
Roberta served on the Morton School Board for 14 years, and the Tazewell County Special Education Association for 6 of those years. She was principal owner of General Insulation in East Peoria, IL for 15 years, until she sold the business.
She was active in Methodist churches where she taught Sunday School, served on church camping boards and other mission boards. She traveled the U.S. with Dick in their trailer for 10 years doing volunteer work with Methodist NOMADS. Her final "mission work" was at High Winds men's transition home as their "grandmother" with all that title encompasses.
Survivors include her children: Janet (Tom) Amyette, Norman, Karen (Bob) Magistrelli, and Steven (Rosy) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. "It was a wonderful life."
