Thomas Arthur Knutson

Thomas Arthur Knutson died unexpectedly at his home in Colorado Springs, CO on September 7, 2015. He was seventy-five years old. Tom was born in Owatonna, Minnesota on August 30,1940. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1958. Before graduating he traveled to Germany as an exchange student with American Field Service. Tom graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1963. During his junior year of college he was selected to represent Lutheran youth as a counselor at their estate in England for a year. He served as an Officer in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1975. During this time he flew as a navigator in the B57 Canberra and flew the RF4 Reconnaissance Fighter in Vietnam. After his tour in Vietnam, he served in Japan where meet his wife Cathy. They married in 1971 and then were stationed in Germany. Prior to leaving the Air Force he was recommended for promotion to the rank of Major. Tom returned to civilian life in Colorado Springs where he managed several real estate companies and worked as a mortgage broker. Tom enjoyed playing tennis, reading and spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Rogan Knutson, his daughter Kristin Van Sant (Michael) and their daughters Audrey and Allison. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Ann Seeburger (Bill) and brother Jim Knutson (Lucia). Tom was preceded in death by his son, Carsten, as well as his parents Henry and Maxine Knutson. Visitation will be at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 East Fountain Blvd. from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 13. The funeral service will be held Monday September 14th at 1 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church located at 4720 Galley Rd.
