Wayne Joseph Gottschalk, Sr. September 7, 1939 - November 18, 2012   Wayne Joseph Gottschalk Sr., age 73, passed away November 18, 2012 in Colorado Springs. He was born September 7, 1939 in Schoenchen, Kansas to the late Wendolyn and Monica (Depperschmidt) Gottschalk.Wayne married Charlene Erdley April 1, 1965 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.   Wayne loved to spend time with his family and friends. Wayne was owner and operator of Wayne’s Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. for 40 plus years. He was also a member of the armed forces serving honorably in the army for three years from 1961 to 1964. He was also a member of Eagles Lodge 143 and Elks Lodge 309. Wayne enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, and shooting pool. He was a die hard Bronco fan and never missed a game. He also liked to travel his trips included Belize, Guatemala, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, and many other places in the U.S.   Wayne was preceded in death by both his parents and his beloved wife Charlene. He was also preceded by his two brothers, Melvin and Alvin; and his sister, Carol.   He is survived by his daughter, Darla Yanez; 2 sons,Wayne (Sharla) Gottschalk Jr. and Robert Gottschalk; 3 brothers; Virgil Gottschalk, Val (Jo) Gottschalk, and Larry Gottschalk; 2 sisters, Wilma Baier and Carlotta Gottschalk; 3 grandchildren, Holly Peterson, Renee Yanez and Miranda Chasteen and many extended family and friends. He is also survived by his companion and best friend Janet Hawks.   A Visitation will be held Friday, November 23, from 5:00 -7:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80904 with entombment immediately following at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, reception to follow at Eagles Lodge 143. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
