Willard Heatherly

Bill was born in Ringgold, Georgia to Willard McKinley, Sr. and Louise McClure Heatherly, and was raised in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947-1967, working with military police confinement. He was also stationed in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina; Korea; Japan; Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Berlin, Germany and Fort Carson, Colorado. Bill was on duty when the Berlin Wall went up. From 1967 to 1987 Bill was a civilian with Colorado Springs Police Department. He worked in Identification and Records for 10 years, and was the Supervisor for the Vehicle Impound Lot for 10 years. Bill was married to Ruby for 55 years, until her death in 2007. He married Frieda January 31, 2009. Bill is preceded in death by three brothers: James, Charles and Thomas; two sisters: Carie Bell and Mary Frances; and stepsons, Ronnie White and Patrick O’Casey. He is survived by: his wife, Frieda; 2 daughters: Regina (Joe) Turner and Sharon; 1 son: Mike (Jody); 1 stepson: Wade (Carol); 1 daughter-in-law: Jinx O’Casey; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; as well as his brothers HL, Richard, John; and sisters Elizabeth, Geneva and Josephine. He was a Colorado Springs resident since 1963, and an active member of Pikes Peak Park Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling with Frieda, having meals out with friends, and fiercely playing Mexican Train domino games with friends. Bill’s smile, sense of humor, hearty laugh, and storytelling will be missed. A Homecoming Celebration will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, February 22 at Pikes Peak Park Baptist Church, 3725 El Morro Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Military Honors will be observed. Lunch will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please give to PPPBC Children’s and Youth Ministries to support summer camp.
