William Chumbley

William Louis Chumbley May 11, 1931 – April 16, 2012   William Louis Chumbley born May 11, 1931 in Covington, Kentucky to Luther Chumbley and Susan (Hainey) Chumbley, passed from this life April 16, 2012. He is survived by his wife Doraellen whom he lovingly referred to as Dody.  They were married March 18, 1955.  His brother Joe Chumbley of Erlanger, Kentucky is his only surviving sibling.  Bill is also survived by his daughters Juanita Muniz and Sandy Layman and two sons Tom Winters and Jim Winters.  He was a proud grandpa to 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  He also left behind several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son Steve Chumbley.   Bill served his country during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart.  Most of his career involved long distance truck hauling and driving for Trailways bus company.  He made many friends across the country through his extensive travels.  He was hard working and enjoyed sharing stories of his life on the road.  Most of all he found joy in spending time with his family, whom he loved very much.   Services will be held at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO at 11 A.M. on April 21, 2012.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
