Yulonda Tompkins

Yulonda Vennent Tompkins, age 77, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on March 4, 2011 in Colorado Springs. Yulonda was born on November 15th, 1933 in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late Carrington and Evalena Wade Price. She was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Colorado Springs. She was an avid golfer, bridge player, bowler and a member of the Ski Ambassadors of Colorado Springs. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Yulonda is survived by her husband of 57 years, Edward Tompkins, a daughter, Denise Tompkins, a son, Michael (Susan) Tompkins, both of Colorado Springs, 4 brothers, Nathaniel Price, Carrington Price, Jr., Donald Lee, Edward Price, 3 sisters, Carolyn Smelley, Donna Mae Watson, Thelma Jean Price, a step-brother, Keith Price, 4 grandchildren, Michael, Eddie, Madylin and Jordan. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Tompkins and a granddaughter, Madison. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Evergreen Funeral Home 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910 and from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church 1 South Walnut St. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Promise Campaign P.O. Box 1824 Colorado Springs, Colorado 80901.
