Robert Lee Henry

Robert “Bob” Lee Henry went to the great golf course in the sky on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018. He was 92. Bob was born to Clyde and Mae (Thomas) Henry on July 18, 1926 in Acosta, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Boswell High School in 1944 before joining the Navy and serving in World War II. Bob also served in the Air Force before going briefly AWOL to marry his hometown sweetheart Annetta Franke across the state line in Cumberland, Maryland on April 7, 1950. Bob was transferred to Buckley Air Force Base in 1950. Bob and Annetta (better known as Tootie) made their home in Thornton and had two sons, Randy and Mark. After serving his country, Bob worked many years as a warehouse manager for Davis Brothers in Denver before retiring in 1986. After retiring, golf became his passion. Bob was a long-time member of the Riverdale Golf Course Men’s Club, winning the senior championship multiple times and serving in positions of leadership. During his time on area courses, Bob recorded three holes-in-one. Bob continued to play multiple rounds of golf a week until he was 90-years-old, when he started to cut down a bit. Bob was a charmer and loved to flirt, but was always faithful to his true love Tootie. They loved to dance and socialize and had many friends in the Thornton area. Besides Tootie and golf, Bob had love affairs with the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies, although those relationships were a bit more tumultuous depending upon the score or team records at any given moment. Bob was a lifetime member of the VFW and a former Elk. Late in his life he participated in a veteran’s Honor Flight to Washington D.C., an experience that deeply touched him. Bob was preceded in his death by his parents; siblings Dick, Betty, Buddy, Glenn, Ernie, Ada and Vince; and daughter-in-law Rita Henry. He is survived by his wife Annetta; sister Ona; brother Don; sons Randall (Patti) and Mark (Leah Ann); grandsons Travis (Erin), Andrew (Kayley) and Eric; granddaughters Carrie, Lyndsay, Noel (Jimmy) and Sara; great-grandchildren Lauren, Joel, Chelsey, Jordyn, Emerson, Alexander, Brooks and Nicholas; and many nephews, nieces and good friends. A gathering of friends and family celebrating Bob's life will be held following the services at Ft. Logan at approximately 1 p.m. at Davies Locker, 8845 Lowell Blvd., Westminster, Co. Memorial donations may be made to Tootie's Golden Years Fund at https://www.gofundme.com/tootiesgoldenyearsfund
