Doneita A. Gitzen, 68, of Aurora, passed away on May 5, 2019 in Aurora. Funeral services will be held 10 am Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Quebec Place at Fairmount Cemetery. Doneita was born in Denver, Colorado to Donald and Loyce Hiatt on August 20, 1950. The Hiatt Family was one of the original pioneer families of Aurora, Colorado. She went to school in Aurora. She married Michael B. Gitzen on June 27, 1970 in Aurora, Colorado. She worked as a court reporter for Federal Reporting Service for over 35 years. She was actively involved in the Aurora Central High School Reunion Committee and Chaired the event several years, including the 50th in August 2018. Doneita participated in bowling leagues throughout Aurora, as well as worked at AAA Bowling as a waitress in her teens. She played the accordion for school and family events. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games with family and friends, and loved fishing and camping. Doneita received a “Perfect Penmanship” Award while attending Denver Business College. She also was able to type 112 wpm. Doneita is preceded in death by Maternal and Paternal Grandparents, parents and her son, Michael Eric Gitzen. Doneita A. Gitzen is survived by devoted Husband, Michael B. Gitzen, Daughter, Angela Black (Derek Ruybal), Brother Jerry Hiatt (Susan Hiatt), Grandchildren, Audrey and Adam Black, Cousins, Mike Hertz (Gwen Hertz) and many loving sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, friends, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Adam Black, Derek Ruybal, Jake Owens, Kale Nelson, Eric Black and John Gitzen.
