Carol Van Dyke

Carol Lee VanDyke, 71 of Denver, Colorado passed away Saturday October 14, 2017 after a brief illness. Carol was born in Durango, Colorado May 22, 1946 to John and Lillie Fresquez (Lopez). The family moved from SW Colorado to Denver that same year and her 2 sisters Charlotte and Jeraldine were born in 1947 and 1948 respectively. Carol is survived by her daughter: Maria T. VanDyke (Ithaca, NY); granddaughter: Lumika VanDyke; sister: Jeraldine Fitzgerald (sps, Mike); Nephews: Tim and Ryan Fitzgeral; her former: husband Arlyn VanDyke; aunts: Lucy James, Pauline Maestes, and Doris Sanders; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Carol attended Cathedral High School in Denver and graduated in 1963 and then attended the University of Iowa graduating in 1968 with a BS in Dentistry: Dental Hygiene. Carol experienced a very challenging and difficult life. She continually forged ahead. Our prayer is that her new life will be one of beauty and peace. Memorial Services will be held in Denver on Oct 30, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty. A vigil will be held in Durango on Nov. 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Hood Mortuary and interment of ashes will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
