Catherine Marie Jefferson died Sunday, September 16, 2012, at home in Ignacio, Colo. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Kay was born February 14, 1937, to James Seibert and Catherine M. Hull in Missoula, Mont. She and Robert Richard Jefferson met as college students at Adams State College, and later they were married in Raton, N.M. Kay received an award as an Outstanding Young Woman in America. She held various jobs, and her primary job outside of the home was teaching at the elementary school from which she eventually retired. Her family remembers her as a wonderful and talented homemaker, artist, craftsperson, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, who cared about others and helped whoever and wherever she could. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Jefferson. She is survived by sons Robert M. Jefferson and Richard L. Jefferson of Ignacio, Colo., daughter Robbi Lynn Mann of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren Tristian Jefferson of Ignacio, Michael Jefferson of San Diego, Calif., Rylie Jefferson of Ignacio, Clayton Jefferson of Ignacio, Carolee Jefferson of Phoenix, Ariz., Richard Jefferson of Ignacio, Garey Mann of Colorado Springs, and Alyssa Scusa of Peyton, Colo.; sisters Joy Ortiz of Gypsum, Colo., Michele Martin of Costa Rica, brother Morgan Seibert of Gypsum, Colo.; sister-in-law Misty Jefferson of Ignacio, brother-in-law James Jefferson of Ignacio, Colo., and numerous nephews and nieces.
