Durango resident Cynthia D. Adams died Friday, April 12, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. She was 53. She was born September 8, 1959, to Vanderbilt and Mary Lou Adams in Orlando, Fla. She grew up in Florida, and moved to Colorado in the 1970’s. Ms. Adams moved to Durango in 1979. Cynthia was employed with Adams Overhead Door. She loved her two girls and grandson. She enjoyed the outdoors and went fishing every chance she got. Her family said, "Cynthia was a beloved member of Ignacio Community Church for nine years. She was an inspiration to all with her faith, commitment, and service to the church and community." She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Adams of Florida, daughters Sharina Ramsey-Adams and Jazzi Adams-Totten of Durango, brothers Vanderbilt Adams Jr. of Florida, Ernest Adams of New York, Tony Adams of Florida, and Joseph Adams of New York; sisters Clara Adams, Evon Wheeler, and Eris Northern, all of Florida, and Ruthie Pumphrey of Georgia; and grandson Donnie Hacker, III, of Colorado. Visitation will occur from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Ignacio East Cemetery. A memorial service will occur at 3 p.m. at Ignacio Community Church at 405 Browning in Ignacio. A meal will follow for friends and family.
