Dorothy Trewet Warlick Obituary

Dorothy Louise Twombly Trewet “Dottie” Warlick, born December 23, 1930, during the great depression, to John M. Twombly and Frances Davis Twombly, died September 29, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Byers, Colorado, but the family moved to Denver in 1941 so her father could take a job in the escalating war effort during the 2nd World War. The family quickly adjusted to city life. After going to South High School in Denver she married Thomas Trewet and soon started their own family. After his death she married David Warlick in 1979. Dottie was a strong and beautiful person and had many talents. She was a caring wife and mother, an artist, historian, published author, musician, realtor and hunter. She volunteered and was very active in The Vallecito Service League where she helped manage the burro race and other events. She and her husband, Dave, were also active volunteers as EMTs and firemen for Upper Pine Fire Department for many years for which she and Dave and the other crewmen were named “Citizen of the Year”. She also was name “Citizen of the Year” along with Rosie Geier for managing the Burro Race event. Dottie was always a spirited person and wasn’t afraid to take a chance now and then. She loved to see different places and meet different people, so when the children left the nest she and Dave traveled to Mexico many times, went to Guatemala, Tahiti, Peru and the Andes, Machu Picchu, floated down the Amazon, and traveled to Hawaii. They had many adventures along the way. She and her family loved camping and fishing trips from Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada and California. After meeting Dave, who taught her a few things about hunting, she shot several elk and a bear which still hangs on a wall in her home. She loved reading and writing and was happiest when all her children were home for a visit and friends were visiting and they went boating on Lake Vallecito. She was very happy with Dave, the love of her life, who gently helped her through her last hard years. She is survived by her husband, Dave Warlick of Vallecito Lake, Colorado, daughters, Glenda Jackson, Yuma, Arizona, Sherry Langley, Aurora, Colorado, sons, Terry Trewet, Tuscon, Arizona, Robert Trewet, Palm Springs, Calif. Glenn Trewet, Vallecito Lake, Colo. Sister, Lois Kramer, Denver, Color,. and brother; Ron Twombly, Palm Springs, Colo. and numerous cousins and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ida Betts, Ruth Vickers, Joann Humphrey, Rose Howard and brother, Al Twombly and grandsons, Chris Trewet, and Charlie Jackson. She will be dearly missed.
