Edna Merle Potter of Durango, CO passed away on February 24, 2014. She was born in Detroit, Texas on March 27, 1931 to Annie Neely Collins and John Henry Collins. Her brother Clifford Collins preceded her in death. Her sister Mary Soloman lives currently in Amarillo, Texas. After a youth spent in West Texas, Edna enrolled in Business School. After finishing school, Edna married Dennis Potter. They lived in Texas, working and raising their three children until 1960 when they decided to move to Colorado. After their kids were grown, Edna and her husband became a “trucking team”, driving long-haul trucking routes across the country together. Two of Edna’s great passions were fishing and reading. She remained an avid reader and cross-word puzzler up until the time of her death. She also enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family. Edna Merle Potter is survived by her children Annetta Noble of Bloomfield, NM, Ellen Cole of Houston, TX and Richard Potter of Maryville, TN. Her grandchildren include Mark, Jason, Misty and Katherine McLaughlin and Elizabeth Smith of Durango, CO. Also, James, Leilani and Kristina Cole and Michelle Bartholomew of Houston, TX. And, Sandra and Richard Potter of Sacramento, CA, Theresa Potter of Southern New Mexico and James Potter of Maryville, TN. She leaves behind 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She will be missed by all.
