Lifelong resident Eloida Allen passed away June 17 at Four Corners Nursing Home. She was born in Dulce, N.M., Sept. 21, 1914. Eloida was adopted at an early age by area rancher Homer Ford and his wife Rose. After graduating from Durango High School in 1932, she attended business school in Albuquerque. In 1938 she married Murray Allen, who preceded her in death in 1976. Eloida loved music and was well known for playing piano with area dance bands in the 50's and 60's. She also enjoyed gardening and especially loved her roses. She is survived by her son, Vaun and his wife Diane. One grandson also survives. Also special to Eloida were her caregivers, Frances Blacker and Jennifer Garcia. Cremation has occured. A graveside service will be held at Greenmount Cemetery Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 10:00 AM.
