Etta Lou Barrett Johnston passed away peacefully on November 5, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. She was 88.<br>Etta was born in Davenport, Oklahoma on December 10, 1926 to L Barrett and Cora Mae Foster. She was one of 7 siblings in a very close, loving, and happy family. Most of her young life was spent in Oklahoma. A highlight of her life was her time in California in her junior year of high school, living with her sister, June Newby. She loved working at a movie theater during her time in California.<br>After her marriage to Robert Wayne Johnston on December 19, 1944, she graduated from high school in Weatherford, OK. During their 44 years of marriage, they lived in Oklahoma, Las Vegas, NV and Albuquerque, NM. She moved to Durango in 1991, to be near her daughter and loved living here.<br>Etta enjoyed spending time with family, going to movies, concerts, basketball games, and taking her family’s dogs for a walk.<br>She is survived by her daughter Janet DeFratus, grandsons Matt (Amy) and Alex Romme, and great grandsons, Kyler and Ashton.<br>Please join us on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 4-6pm, at the home of Janet DeFratus, to celebrate the life of Etta.
