Harry Lee McCoy, 84, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at his home in La Boca, Colorado. Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. No services are planned at this time. Mr. McCoy was born November 11, 1929 in Ignacio, Colorado the son of Charles and Elva McCoy. Mr. McCoy grew up in the La Boca area and began ranching at an early age. He ranched near Lemon Dam and other areas in the Bayfield. He enjoyed working in all aspects of ranching and also liked being in the outdoors. He liked to hunt, fish, trap and team rope. A self-taught guitarist, Mr. McCoy was also a gifted harmonica player and singer. He thoroughly enjoyed following his kids and grandkids in their high school sports as well as their rodeo endeavors. Mr. McCoy will always be remembered for his exceptional horsemanship. He is survived by Randy (Debbie) McCoy (son and daughter in law) of Arboles, CO, Dixie (B.T.) Cook (daughter and son in law) of La Boca, CO, Tim (Sheryl) McCoy (son and daughter in law) of Bayfield, CO, Dave (Jeri) McCoy (son and daughter in law) of Bayfield, CO, Steve McCoy (son) of La Boca, CO, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nara Jo, his brother, Orville McCoy, his sister, Mildred Boyer and an infant great granddaughter.
