Judith Wuest Durango, Colorado Obituary

Judith Wuest

Judith Marie Wuest passed peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018 in Durango, at the age of 86. Mrs. Wuest was born at her grandmother's home at 91 Union Street in Leominster, Massachusetts on September 4, 1931, the daughter of Alfred Bergeron and Kathleen Laprade Bergeron. Judith enjoyed growing up in the small town of Leominster and she loved the outdoors. She learned to ice skate on the frozen pond near her home and had fun playing in the apple orchards with her friends. She moved to Keene, New Hampshire with her parents and younger sister Carol when her father returned home from military service in Europe during World War II. A few years later, her family moved to Ashland, Virginia, where Judith would meet her future husband Robert (Fritz) Wuest. They were married on April 11, 1953. The union produced four children, two girls and two boys. The family left Virginia in 1962 and moved to Cottonwood, Arizona, where they resided for nine years before moving to Durango after visiting the area on vacation. Judith loved being a wife and mother, always putting family first. She was the PTA mom and the home room mother for each of her children, even taking cake decorating classes so she could make creative deserts for school parties. She always made the holidays special by decorating her home and inviting the family over for a wonderful meal and a great time. "It will be difficult to duplicate her magic touch", said her daughter April. "She loved greatly and was greatly loved". She is survived by her son Wayne Wuest of Pensacola, Florida, daughter April Curtis (husband Kent) of Ignacio, son Robert Wuest of Ignacio and her grandson Benjamin Curtis of Ignacio. Judith was preceded in death by her husband Robert (1992) and her youngest daughter Karen Wuest (2004). Visitation will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Hood Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Kevin Novack officiating, with burial to follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
