Kathryn Rebekah Sharif of Ignacio, Colorado died January 4, 2020, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Kathryn was 25 years old; born August 11, 1994 in Washington, D.C. Daughter of Mohammad Sharif Esfahani and Stella Sharif-Chikiar, a sister, fiancé, niece, cousin and friend. She was raised in Montgomery County, Maryland, and graduated from Quince Orchard High School in 2012. Kathryn is survived by her parents and her sister Lisa Sharif-Chikiar. She also leaves her fiancé, Andres Herrera of Ignacio, Colorado; and his son, Andres (Junior) Herrera. Kathryn is survived by her family, friends, and the family of Andres Herrera. There will be two memorial services, one in Colorado, her most recent home of the past four years, and the other in Maryland, where she spent most of her life. Kathryn was a vivacious free spirit and her laughter could fill a room. She loved to have fun with her family and friends and appreciated nature, music, the arts, all animals and especially her dog Jake. She will be dearly missed. The Colorado memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 12 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, 901 East 2nd Avenue, Lodge No. 507, Durango, Colorado 81301. The date of the Maryland memorial service is to be determined. In lieu of gifts, the family has asked for friends to bring themselves and if they wish, stories, photos, mementos or whatever they feel.
