Lanae Shumway Durango, Colorado Obituary

Lanae Shumway

Lanae Diana Shumway (Gething) was born on November 29,1989 to Michelle Taylor in Durango, CO. At the age of 6, she was adopted by George and Victoria Gething, into a large and love-filled family along with her brother and sister, Jase & Kaleah. They would be known in the family as the "three little ones". A name that would last long after they were not so little. A beautiful, smart and creative person, Lanae was one of the funniest people you could ever know. A smile and laughter were never far away. Lanae was incredibly talented; playing the guitar, writing and singing songs, and was passionate about art, often drawing and sketching for herself and others. Lanae was able to experience the love and joy of motherhood and had two beautiful children, Isabel and Georgie. They were the light of her life. Our beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend suffered from a terrible disease called addiction. Sadly, she lost her battle on January 11, 2018. Her family takes great comfort knowing she is at peace and no longer has to endure the struggle life's journey can bring. Lanae's beautiful smile, laughter and wonderful being will be greatly missed by her family, friends and those who were lucky enough to know her. Lanae is survived by her children, Isabel Rawson and George Shumway; her parents George & Victoria Gething and Michelle Taylor. Her sisters: Kaleah Westlund (Matthew), Adri Gething, Perla Gething, Natasha Taylor, Tuesdaye Olson and Monica Quintana (Ben). Her brothers: David Freeman (Suzy), Jonathan Dubois, Ray Gething, Ben Gething (Tasha), Levi Gething, Tony Gething and Trey Taylor. Her beloved grandmother, Mary Lee Gomez, many aunts and uncles and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her brother, Jase Gething. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday January 26, 2018 at the River Church (860 Plymouth Dr.) at 2:00pm. Burial will take place at Greenmont Cemetery in Durango.
