Ruth Stricklin, of Bayfield, Colorado, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, in Amarillo, Texas. Ruth was born in Douglas, Arizona on May 11, 1917. She and her husband bought a home at Vallecito Resort where they retired in 1972. She moved to the town of Bayfield in 1987, following her husband’s passing where she remained until 2006, when she moved to Amarillo, Texas due to health issues. She passed away January 11, 2014 at the age of 96, after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Stricklin and her daughter, Bonnie Baxter. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ellen Loggins, of Amarillo; a son, Jack Stricklin of El Paso; five grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren. A life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, services will be held at the LDS Chapel in Bayfield, Colorado on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 10:00 am.
