Margret Moore Obituary

Margret Moore, 77, was born in Berthoud, CO on January 17, 1939. She passed away on November 25th, 2016 in Pagosa Springs, CO. She was born to Eleanor & Stephen Newman and grew up with 4 older brothers; Stephen Jr., Bob, Jack, & Jerry. She grew up at Vallecito Lake, where her parents moved to, so her father could manage the newly built lake, as the Superintendent. She attended Bayfield schools. Margret had many loves. She enjoyed fishing and did it quite often with her brothers. She loved hunting and riding horses. She also loved music and her Denver Broncos. Margret married Luther Stafford in 1958 and they had a little girl named Lou. They later divorced. She met Lloyd Moore and they were married in1961. They were blessed with a little girl, Patti. They lived for a short time in Denver. They later divorced but remained friends. Margret went into business with Melvin Cundiff in the 70’s. They purchased the Conoco station at the 8 Corners intersection. They had the business for a little while and then sold it. She also did accounting and taxes for many businesses. These businesses were located in Vallecito, Bayfield, Durango and she also helped out with the American Legion in Ignacio. Her health was not the best so she was unable to do a whole lot. She moved into the Senior center in Ignacio, CO and lived there for several years. She became best friends with Lucy Lora, her neighbor and Dorothy and Leroy Salazar, the caretakers. They spent many hours playing cards and enjoying Lucy’s yummy baked goods. She loved spending time with her grandkids. Patti & David would stop by to visit with Michelle and Charles and that always brought a huge smile to her face. When Lou was at work she would watch Chloe, Joe, Dawn and Rusty. These times were very special for Grandma Margret and the kids. They loved her cooking, playing cards and just hanging with Grandma. She lived at the senior Center for several years. She moved to AZ for a short time to help her brother, Bob. He was dealing with cancer. she stayed with him and took care of him until he passed on. She was a special lady and gave of herself in many ways. She was always helping folks in need with food & money (even though she had very little herself). Whatever you needed, if she had it to give, she would do it. She moved back to Bayfield and lived in the senior center for several years. As her health declined she moved over to Pagosa Springs where she stayed until her passing on Friday, the 25th of November, 2016. We have a new grandbaby coming in February. We know she will be right there with her helping her arrive, as a good friend said; she will be dancing her new great granddaughter in. She did love her music and dancing. She also had a Faith that was strong and saw her through many trials and hard times. She knew that God would get her through whatever was going on. She never once doubted that. If we could say one thing, it would be to always stay in touch with your loved ones. No matter what they say, check on them and make sure they truly are doing ok. They have a lot of pride and don’t always let you know when they are in need. This lady was a wonderful daughter and a great mother, grandmother & great Grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all whom knew her & loved her. Margret was preceded in death by her parents and all 4 of her brothers. She is survived by her 2 daughters Lou Cundiff (Mike Yeager) & Patti (David) Byrd. 6 Grandchildren; Chloe (Jerry) Jackson, Joe (Julie) Cundiff, Dawn Miller, Rusty (Jordan) Miller, Michelle Byrd & Charles Byrd. 6 Great Grandchildren; Jerica & Colten Jackson, Diana & Katie Cundiff, Tayton Miller & Baby Cam Miller, whom is on the way. A family Memorial Service is planned for a later date and her ashes will be spread at this time. Memorial contributions can be made in her name, to your local Dementia/Alzheimer’s Facility.
