Obituary for Nancy Ann Baker

Nancy Ann Baker, 71, of Greeley, CO, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at North Colorado Medical Center - Hospice.Nancy was born on December 21, 1935 in Alexandria, IN to Lester and Velma Lucille (Jones) McCaslin. She married Edwin "Buddy" Baker on August 9, 1958 in Alexandria, IN.Nancy grew up in Alexandria, IN and then moved to Bloomington, IN. She had been a resident of Greeley since 1965. She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1953. After high school she worked as a secretary for three years. She then attended Indiana University and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1959. She taught elementary school for a few years. She was in Pi Beta Phi Sorority in which she had remained active. She was a member of the Humane Society and ASPCA.Nancy's husband, Buddy, said about her, "Nancy's life revolved around her family and friends. She was concerned mainly with domestic issues. Nancy loved people, and she loved dogs, but especially loved children. She also followed the plight of earth's creatures with great interest and deep concern. Nancy recognized beauty in all its forms. Wherever we lived, she always made it look beautiful. She fought her cancer for almost eight years with great courage and a tough spirit. She never gave up. Nancy was an exceptional person who will be sorely missed by family and friends and all who knew and loved her. I believe because Nancy was here, the world is a better place."She is survived by her husband, Edwin "Buddy" D. Baker of Greeley; sons, Dee Bradley Baker of Burbank, CA and Dr. Christopher James Baker of Duluth, MN; daughter, Amy Kathryn Brierly of Littleton; brother, James McCaslin of South Bend, IN; grandchildren, Josie and Cora Baker of Burbank, CA and Zadie and Braxton Baker of Duluth, MN and Mia and Chris Brierly of Denver..She was preceded in death by her parents.Cremation will be completed with a private family gathering to follow.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Weld County Humane Society in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631.Please view online obituary at www.allnutt.com to sign family guest book and send condolences.
