Stanley C. StearnsBorn on a farm near Hingham, MT on December 21, 1912Departed on January 4, 2010, two weeks after celebrating his 97th birthday. He lived in several western states, and most recently resided in Ft. In the 1960's, Stan and his wife Verna were partners in the Desert Cove Landscaping & Nursery business in Rancho Mirage, California. He continued to start new businesses when he was 54 and 58 in Seattle and Phoenix. I don't believe there was anything he ever thought he couldn't do.Throughout the years, Stan and Verna loved to dance to big band music, and passed that love of music on to their daughters, Rene and April. Stan also passed along a love of animals and the great outdoors, and a well-developed sense of humor.Stan is survived by his loving wife, the former Verna Arlene Francis; two sisters, Lorraine Wampler of Duluth, MN, and Cleo Dideon of Seattle, Washington; three daughters, Rene DeMattei of Ft. Collins, CO, April Stearns of Denver, CO and Sherry Deason of Chandler, AZ, a son, Don Stearns of Quakervillage, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren, and numerous great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Edith Stearns, a brother, Gordon Stearns, and three sisters, Lois Evenson, Hazel Ebner, and Ethel Schram.Memorial donations can be made in his name to Good Samaritan Society, 508 W Trilby Rd., Fort Collins, CO, 80525.
