Obituary for Virgil E. Singleton

Virgil E. Singleton went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2009, at South Hampton Place health care center in Columbia, Missouri.A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 9, at 1:00 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Village chapel at 2101 S. Garfield in Loveland, Colorado. Burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Fort Collins, CO. Virgil began this life on May 14, 1917 at Sidon, Arkansas. He attended high school in Weatherford, OK and college at Southwestern State Teacher's College also in Weatherford, where he met and married Roslie Laurene Harder on May 21, 1939. His beloved Roslie, his wife of 65 years, predeceased him on December 29, 2004.Virgil was a talented baritone singer, and especially loved singing duet roles with Roslie and in quartets through college and beyond. Virgil and Roslie had three children and lived in Oklahoma until 1960, when they moved to Colorado, living in the Loveland area for nearly 50 years. In February of 2009 Virgil moved to Columbia, Missouri to live near family.In early 1970's Virgil took a position with Pat Griffin Company of Ft. Collins, CO working with his college friend and owner of Gasamat, Pat Griffin. He became Vice President of Finance for Gasamat and President of Pageco Insurance. In 1979 Gasamat was sold to Asmera Oil U.S. Inc. where Virgil became Operations Manager of 120 retail gas stations and also remained on the Boards of Directors for Pat Griffin Company and Pageco Insurance until his retirement in 1983. Virgil is a United States Navy veteran.Virgil and Roslie attended Loveland Bible Church, until they moved to Loveland Good Samaritan Village, where they attended the Good Samaritan Chapel.Virgil is survived by his son Jerry Singleton and wife Geri of Burleson, TX; daughter Sharon Roulier and husband Terry of Columbia, MO; daughter Sue Vaughn and husband Andy of Austin, TX; grandsons Richard Singleton of Flower Mound, TX; John Singleton and wife Becky of Fredrick, CO; Scott Roulier and wife Julie of Batesville, AR; Monte Roulier and wife Eartha of Columbia, MO; Ryan Vaughn of Austin, TX; and Jimmy Vaughn of Lyons, CO; great grandchildren Josh, Jordan and Abby Singleton; Sean and Peter Roulier; and Grant, Gabe and Alexa Roulier; half brother David Singleton and wife Nadine of Suffern, NY; half sisters Jane Hollansworth and husband John of Hot Springs Village, AR; June Gilbertson and husband Carroll of San Marcos, CA; and Paulette Jones and husband Bob of Nolensville, TN.Donations can be made to Hospice or to the Loveland Good Samaritan Village.
