Dorothea Carrol Kler, 93, of Greeley passed away on August 13, 2017. She was born November 25, 1923 to George and Emma (Troudt) Sitzman, Jr. in rural Kersey, CO. On February 3, 1924 she was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Paul’s German Congregational Church in Greeley. Dorothea married Edward Emil Kler on May 30, 1943 and he preceded her in death on August 31, 1989. She attended schools in Kersey, Ault, Pierce and Auburn (rural Greeley). Dorothea was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church from 1943 to 1968 when as a family they moved to Fort Collins, CO attending Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. The family lived there until 1980 when they returned to Greeley. Dorothea taught Sunday school for 21 years in both churches. She was active in the women of the church, serving as president in both churches. She was also a member of other organizations including; Senior to Senior, Deborah Bible study and adult Sunday school at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, charter member of the Rangerette’s Extension Home Makers, Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority, Kersey Lions Club, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Mothers Club of Pleasant Valley, Helping Hands of Kersey and enjoyed many other volunteer positions. Dorothea volunteered at Scott Elementary school for 13 years. Dorothea worked for S.H. Kress, Joslin’s, Miss B’s and Ann’s Style Shop, Harlan Houchens Liquidations in Greeley, Classic Department store, May D&F and Gwen’s Dress shop in Fort Collins. She also worked in food service in both the Greeley and Fort Collins school systems. Dorothea is survived by two sons; Chuck (Connie) of Windsor, Spencer (Joyce) of Casper, WY and a daughter, Marilyn Ehn of Eaton; 10 grandchildren, David (Rebecca) Kler, Daniel (Sandy) Kler, Douglas Kler, Matthew (Erin) Ehn, Michelle (Chris) Kelly, Christopher (Olivia) Kler, Spencer (Jessee) Kler, Jr., Jessie and Casey Kler and Sammuel (Kim) Kler; 14 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Donald S. Kler, parents, four brothers; George III, Clarence, Marvin and Donald, one sister Mildred Kissler, son-in-law Tracy L. Ehn and a granddaughter-in-law Merrie Kler. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, August 17 at the Adamson Chapel. Life Celebration services at 11 a.m. Friday, August 18 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Ave., Greeley. A reception will follow. Interment 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
